Wake Goi is a dedicated public servant and community leader whose career has been built on service, development and improving opportunities for the people of Jimi District and Papua New Guinea.
Before entering Parliament, Mr Goi worked extensively in community and health-related services, gaining valuable experience in grassroots development and understanding the challenges faced by rural communities. His commitment to helping people and strengthening local communities has remained at the centre of his leadership throughout his public life.
As Member for Jimi Open, Mr Goi has focused on improving access to essential services, supporting infrastructure development and advocating for programs that create opportunities for families, young people and local businesses. He is known for his approachable leadership style and strong connection to the communities he represents.
Throughout his parliamentary career, Mr Goi has held several important ministerial responsibilities. He served as Minister for Community Development from 2019 to 2022 and was later appointed Minister for Mining in 2024. He has also held responsibilities associated with the Civil Aviation portfolio, reflecting the confidence successive governments have placed in his leadership and ability to deliver results.
His experience across social development, resource sector management and public administration has strengthened his commitment to ensuring that development benefits reach communities and contribute to a stronger and more inclusive Papua New Guinea.
As a member of the People's Party, Mr Goi supports policies that promote accountability, transparency and sustainable development. He shares the party's commitment to putting people first and ensuring that communities have a stronger voice in decisions that affect their future.
Mr Goi remains focused on building a better future for Jimi District and contributing to the development of a stronger, more inclusive Papua New Guinea where all citizens have the opportunity to succeed.
