Dr Lino Tom is a medical doctor, public servant and experienced parliamentarian who has dedicated much of his professional life to improving the health and wellbeing of Papua New Guineans.

Before entering politics, Dr Tom built a distinguished career in medicine, serving communities and gaining firsthand experience of the healthcare challenges faced by families across the country.

 

His background as a medical professional continues to influence his approach to leadership, with a strong focus on improving healthcare services, community development and opportunities for future generations.

Elected Member for Wabag Open, Dr Tom has earned a reputation as a thoughtful and hardworking representative who remains closely connected to the people he serves. His leadership and expertise have seen him entrusted with important ministerial responsibilities, serving as Minister for Fisheries from 2019 to 2022 before being appointed Minister for Health in 2022, a position he continues to hold. He also serves as Parliamentary Leader of the People's Party, helping guide the party's policy direction and parliamentary agenda.

As a representative of the people of Wabag, Dr Tom has consistently advocated for improved infrastructure, better healthcare access, educational opportunities and economic development for local communities. His practical approach to problem-solving and commitment to service have made him a respected voice within Parliament and among his constituents.
